ABOUT ME
I was born in Waterloo, Iowa to an active duty Airmen father and Filipino mother. Before taking courses through Arizona State, I had been to 13 different schools and lived in 7 states and 3 countries. My husband of 20 years, Andy, retired from the Marine Corps in 2017 and just recently graduated from nursing school through National University. We have two beautiful children together, Jagger (9) and Penelope Rose (6). We bought our dream home in Oceanside, California in 2015 and plan to raise our children here so they don't have to bounce around schools like I did when I was younger.
I have been in the finance field for almost 15 years. Although I enjoy dealing with the black and white answers in finance, I am ready for a change. For the last 7 years, I have had the pleasure of working at Sage Creek High School in Carlsbad, California. I was hired here to work as the Associated Student Body (ASB - Student Leadership) Accounting Technician. My role is to manage money for the class, graduation, registration, pep rallies, yearbook, performing arts, clubs and all of athletics. As fulfilling as this job is, I realized my true passion was to work with and mentor the students. As i looked into obtaining my teaching credential, the first thing that always came up was to have a bachelor's degree. Since I lived in Phoenix, Arizona for 9 years, I decided to finally become a Sun Devil in January of 2020. I will soon be graduating Summa Cum Laude with my bachelor's of arts in Organizational Leadership with the intent of enrolling in a teaching credential program to teach ASB. My journey is not over yet but I have to take a moment to be proud of myself for persevering through such a tough time in our world. I had to find a balance between my family, my leadership roles, work and school. Taking various courses through ASU taught me so many valuable lessons I will take with me for the rest of my life. |
